If you aren't familiar with A Better Bag of Groceries, Melissa is a healthy living mother who works for NuVal. NuVal is a nutritional scoring system that rates foods on a scale of 1-100, based on how nutritious they are. Melissa writes posts about the nutrional value of various foods available in our local supermarkets and how we can easily "trade up" to healthier options (check out a recent article published by USA Today). The NuVal system is not available in all supermarkets yet--but they are working on it! To see if the NuVal scoring system is available near you, check out the list here.
Melissa gave me the wonderful opportunity to be featured as a guest blogger. I wrote a piece about how I used the NuVal scores in my local King Soopers in addition to comparing unit prices to ensure that I am getting the biggest healthy bang for my buck.
Thank you Melissa for allowing me to be featured on your blog :)
In other words, my life has been pretty busy these last couple of weeks. I've been doing a TON of skiing here in Colorado since I've had a couple friends come in from out of town and the boy was visiting. I've been trying to get my fill in before I make the big M-O-V-E back to Virginia! I found out last month that I was offered a new rotation in Business Development, which I start in 2 weeks! I am super excited about this opportunity because it will give me a different viewpoint of the company, outside of engineering. Since I will have to move myself back east (1800 mile road trip anyone?), I have been trying to pack myself up and all my ducks lined up in a row (who came up with this saying???) so I can make sure I can get back to Virginia at a decent hour on March 4th. It took us 2.5 days to drive out here in a Budget Truck--so I'm hoping for good weather (no 60mph winds in Kansas please...or snowstorms) so it doesn't take us longer than that.
Since this post is lacking some photos--here's a couple I snapped while playing with my little monster of a Valentine (who turned THREE ~February 6th!)
"Look What I Got!"
"I'm lazy....but give me it!!!"
"Just try to take it...I dare you"
"HA HA SUCKER!!! I got it before you!!"
"Oh uh...how do I get it now!? Mommy...please help. I swear I didn't mean to call you a sucker."
Happy Belated Birthday to your dog! What type of engineer are you?
ReplyDeleteThanks Suz! I got my Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech and my Master's degree in Systems Engineering from George Washington University. I've been practicing Systems Engineering since I started working. I think I prefer it over EE :)
