January Foodie Pen Pal Revealed!

I am super excited to be posting my first blog post about The Lean Green Bean's Foodie Pen Pal Program.  This is my first month participating and I absolutely loved it!
Although my awesome Foodie Pen Pal was sick this month (in and out of the hospital, poor thing), she still sent me something amazing….

I absolutely LOVE my Starbucks card.  Starbucks is and always has been one of my guilty pleasures.  I try to limit my Starbucks consumption to $20 a month—but with my upcoming move back to Virginia in a month, I know I will need all the Triple (possibly Quad) Grande 2-Pump Toffee Nut Latte with Soys to keep myself awake and sane as I make the 1800 mile drive in a Budget Truck with my car in tow.
Lindsay was also awesome enough to send me the recipe to her mom’s super secret chocolate chip cookies.  Sorry folks, you’re not going to be get a snapshot since it is a super secret recipe—but I will post pictures once I make them :)
Thank you so much for being an awesome Foodie Pen Pal Lindsay, despite everything you went through this past month.  I still LOVE my package and I can't wait to make the cookies!
If you want to participate in The Lean Green Bean’s Foodie Pen Pal Program in February, I highly recommend it!  You have until February 4th to sign up!
Here are the details:
-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treatsThe spending limit is $15The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.

**The BIG news this month is that we’re going to do a trial run in Canada.  I’m still not exactly sure how it will work with shipping costs and stuff since I’m not sure you guys up North have flat rate shipping boxes, but if you’re willing to give it a try for a month and provide me with some feedback, that would be awesome!

Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!

Sound like fun? If you’re interested in participating for February, please send an email to Lindsay at theleangreenbean@gmail.com and include the following information:
-Your full name
-Your email address
-Your blog name/address
-Your twitter handle (if applicable)
-WHETHER YOU ARE A US RESIDENT OR CANADIAN RESIDENT. – this is SUPER important so I can get you on the right list!
